Tackling Poverty and Injustice
Through Fairtrade
There are still over 2 billion people living on less than $2 a day. One way we can help to stop this injustice is to buy Fairtrade products. Fairtrade puts the poorest of the poor first, tackling poverty and injustice through fairer trade practices.
This year, the Fairtrade Foundation has launched 'The Big Swap'. During Fairtrade Fortnight (Feb 22 - March 7), the aim is to get 1,000,001 people in the UK to swap their usual choices for Fairtrade alternatives. With over 3000 Fairtrade products ranging from flowers and chocolate to makeup and socks there is plenty to choose from. And each and every swap helps someone in the developing world to get a better deal. Visit http://www.thebigswap.org.uk to find out more and register your swap.
BRITAIN SWAP YOUR CUPPA!
Did you know that there are 165 million cups of tea drunk every day in the UK but only 10% of this is Fairtrade tea. If we all swapped our cuppa for Fairtrade we would make a real difference to the lives of millions of impoverished tea producers.
